HISTORICAL
SUMMARY Maltese Regiments of the British Army The Malta Dockyard Battalion of Artillery, 1853-1864. Just like the previous unit, the Battalion was raised during the Crimean War and was composed of men employed at H.M.. Dockyard. It consisted of 300 men divided into three companies, commanded by three Captains and fourteen Lieutenants. Although required to perform only a few hours of drill per week, it was found that due to the work-load, this could not always be met and in 1864 the Battalion was disbanded.
