SUMMARY Maltese Regiments of the British Army The Maltese Veterans, 1802-1815.
The third unit was The Corps of Maltese Veterans which was composed of soldiers previously in the armed forces of the order of St. John, many of whom had returned to Malta after having been conscripted for service in Egypt with Napoleon's Army of the Orient. Officers were Maltese with the exception of a few who were English from regular Regiment. Duties consisted of assisting the keeping of civil order and performing guard duties at various public buildings. Their uniform was of greyish colour with red facings and white lace.
