FRA’ FERDINAND  VON HOMPESCH. 1797 – 1798. 

During the rule of Hompesch a Russian Priory was created. On the 9 June 1798, the French Armada appeared off  Malta under the command of General Bonaparte and on the 12 June the Order capitulated.

Arms of the Grand Master placed on a double-headed eagle holding
in each beak a Tau cross and surmounted by a royal crown.
The date 17-98, and the value T.-30 flank the crown .
